In 2008, Justice Lander made a consent determination recognising the native title rights of the Wangkangurru/Yarluyandi claim groups. The determination recognised non-exclusive native title rights and interests in the 7770sq km of the Witjira National Park and a commercial lease at Mt Dare. This was the first determination over a South Australian national park and resolves four claims over the Witjira National Park: the Irrwanyere Mt Dare claim (2005), and park overlap areas of two Eringa claims (1996 and 1999) and a Wangkangurru/ Yarluyandi claim (1997).
The Gungarri Native Title Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC administers land on trust for the Gunggari people. In June 2012, the Federal Court recognised the Gunggari people’s native title rights over approximately 13,600 km² of lands and waters in the South Central region of Queensland, roughly situated between the towns of Charleville, Mitchell, St George and Bollon.
The combined Mandingalbay Yidinji-Gunggandji Peoples Native Title Determination (QCD2012/008) was determined by the Federal Court of Australia on 21 September 2012 and resulted in registration of the Gunggandji-Mandingalbay Yidinji Peoples Prescribed Body Corporate (‘the GMYPPBC’) as the registered native title body corporate incorporated under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth).
The PBC website acknowledges the traditional owners of country throughout Australia and their continuing
