Gunggandji Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The claim relates to two applications made by the Gurubana Gunggandji and Gungandji People in 1994 and 1995, which were joined in 2001 and registered in 2008. In a consent determination, the Federal Court recognised the Gunggandji People’s:

  • Exclusive native title rights in relation to around 7508 hectares of land and

  • Non-exclusive native title rights over 789 hectares of land and waters.

Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The Gunditj Mirring Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC administers land on behalf of the Gunditjmara people. The Gunditjmara’s ownership of the land was recognised in the Gunditjmara determination of March 2007.

This determination arose from two native title claims made in August 1996 and June 2006 respectively. These claims included Crown land and waters, including state forests, national parks, recreational reserves, river frontages and coastal foreshores.

Gunaikurnai Land & Waters Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The Gunai/Kurnai consent determination is the first settlement reached under the new Victorian Native Title Settlement Framework over a significant area of the Gippsland region. The Framework enables claimants to exercise non-exclusive native title rights and interests, such as the right to hunt and fish. The determination settles a claim made 13 years ago by the Gunaikurnai peoples to have their rights as the traditional owners of the land recognised. The Federal and Victorian Governments both contributed $6 million to develop the $12 million settlement package.

Gugu Badhun Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The Gugu Badhun Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (GBAC) is the Prescribed Body Corporate (PBC) registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act (Cth) (2006) (CATSI), and holds the Native Title rights, interests and assets as agent of the Gugu Badhun people. GBAC was incorporated with the Office of Registrar of Indigenous Corporation (ORIC) on May 3, 2012 and was registered as a Registered Native Title Body Corporate on August 23, 2012.

Goondaloo Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The Goondaloo Aboriginal Corporation act as agent the benefit of the Warrungu People. 

On 23 September 2013, Logan J recognised the Warrungu People’s native title rights and interests over various lands and waters in the Herbert/Durdekin region, which cover a total area of approximately 2644 square kilometres. 

Other than in relation to water, the native title holders have exclusive native title rights and interests. 

Goemulgaw (Torres Strait Islanders) Corporation RNTBC

The Goemulgaw (Tores Strait Islanders) Corporation RNTBC hold native title in trust for the benefit of the people of Mabuiag. 

On 6 July 2000, Drummound J made a positive native title determination in relation to the traditional owners of Mabuiag Island. In that case, the Federal Court of Australia recognised the native title holders’ native title rights and interests. 

Githabul Nation Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC

The Githabul Nation Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC act as agent for the benefit of the Githabul people. 

The Githabul people’s native title rights and interests were recognised on 29 November 2007. On that date, Branson J made a positive native title determination in relation to land and waters in the northern part of New South Wales covering identified areas of New South Wales State Forests, New South Wales National Parks and parts of the Dairy Flat Travelling Stock Reserve.

The native title holders have non-exclusive rights in relation to the determination area.
