The Bungle Bungles Aboriginal Corporation hold native title in trust for the Jaru, Kija and Malngin people.

Following disputes over who the right people were for the Purnululu National Park, and some areas surrounding it, on 19 December 2022, Mortimer J recognised the native title holders’ rights and interests in relation to an area including the Purnululu National Park, and areas to the west and southwest of it. 

Within the determination area, there are portions with exclusive native title rights and interests, and others with non-exclusive native title rights and interests.
