Native title advocates are hopeful two long-standing claims will finally be wrapped up in Cairns this week.
Cape York Traditional Owners and their future generations have won the right to use and enjoy their traditional lands. State Development Minister and Natural Resources and Mines Minister Dr Anthony Lynham said the Federal Court of Australia today recognised the native title rights and interests of the Wuthathi, Kuuku Y'au and Northern Kaanju peoples over about 165,000 hectares of land and waters on Cape York Peninsula.
A 13 year native title dispute over 2826 square kilometres of land around Cape York Peninsula has ended with the Federal Court recognising two native title claims.
