On 23 June 2015, Mansfield J recognised the Budjiti people’s native title rights and interests. The area subject to the Budjiti claim covers a total area of approximately 16730 kilometres squared. The area is located in Southwest Queensland centred in the Paroo River extending between Queensland and New South Wales boarder in the south to Dynevor Lakes in the north, from Mt Bindegolly in the west to Moonjaree Waterhole in the east. The portion of the claim area that was subject to the determination comprised an area of approximately 11,000 square kilometres.
The Budjiti Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC was established to hold those rights and interests in trust on behalf of their wider community.
