The Ewamian People Aboriginal Corporation (EPAC) is the corporate entity established by the Ewamian People to hold their native title rights and interests since their determination in 2013.  EPAC represents the Ewamian People for all matters relating to native title and cultural heritage.

The Ewamian People are the Traditional Owners of an area of north-western Queensland extending over the gilbert and Einasleigh River catchment areas including Georgetown, Mount Surprise, Forsayth and Einasleigh.

Within the determination area, there is the Talaroo Indigenous Protected Area and Nature Refuge, which is a self-declared area that the Traditional Owners agree to manage for the protection of natural and cultural values.

The EPAC runs the Ewamian Ranger Program, funded by the Department of Environmental and Science. Their main objectives of the program are:

  • Natural resource management
  • Cultural heritage management
  • Visitor management
  • Education, training and development for the Rangers
