The Garboi (Torres Strait Islanders) Corporation holds native title in trust for the benefit of the Poruma and Masig Peoples.

On 15 August 2005, Black CJ made a positive native title determination in respect of Garboi, an island in the Torres Strait, also known as Arden Island. The claim area covered the whole island except a small area at the western end subject of a lease to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

Other than in relation to water, the native title holders have a right to possession, occupation, use and enjoyment of the determination to the exclusion of all others.
