The Bar-Barrum Aboriginal Corporation act as an agent for the native title rights and interests of the Bar-Barrum people. 

On 28 June 2001, the Federal Court of Australia recognised the Bar-Barrum people’s native title rights and interests. The determination area comprises land and inland waters within the areas of the Herberton and Mareeba Shire Councils on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland. The area includes 25 unallocated state land tenure and two reserves. 

The Bar-Barrum people claim the area as traditional lands for customary residence, cultural, social, spiritual and economic purposes. 

The Bar-Barrum people have non-exclusive rights attached to the land.
